Keratin is the primary protein of hair, nails, and skin and is a natural substance that helps return hair to its original healthy, shiny, smooth state.
We use a Keratin Smoothing Treatment developed with key ingredients that create a smoothing effect resulting in more manageable hair and added shine for all hair types.
-
Is the Keratin Treatment good for all hair types? The treatment is effective on all kinds of hair. Even damaged hair. Straightening with these treatments coats the hair and replenishes its condition without changing or damaging its molecular structure.
-
How long does the Keratin Treatment last?Lasts 3 to 5 months, depending on the condition, types of products used, and amount of washes of the hair.
-
Will the keratin make my hair straight?Depending on the texture and condition of the hair, the keratin we use may have a straightening effect from 70% to 100%.
-
How long does a Keratin Smoothing Treatment take, and what does it involve?Depending on the volume and length of hair and the application process used, the treatment can take anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours to complete. The hair is prepped with a cleansing shampoo to strip away impurities/build-up in the hair Apply treatment Treatment will sit between 20 to 50 minutes according to the type of hair The treatment will be rinsed, and a deep conditioning mask will be applied After rinsing, hair is blown dry and infused with a 450-degree flat iron (this is on healthy hair. Heat temperature is adjusted to the condition of the hair) - this activates the Keratin Treatment by trapping the moisture, hydrating the hair and creating a smooth, glossy finish
-
What shampoo should I use?Choose your shampoo and conditioner wisely. This is the most important thing of all. Put your drugstore shampoos away for 3 months. Your keratin-treated hair needs gentle shampoos that DO NOT CONTAIN SODIUM CHLORIDE. Using these or salt-based shampoos will dissolve the keratin coating and wash out your expensive treatment prematurely.
-
How often can a Keratin Smoothing treatment be performed on the hair?As often as you like, it’s a conditioning treatment. If maximum volume reduction is sought, multiple treatments can have a cumulative effect. Many clients request the service before the humid season for frizz reduction or after a harsh service to bring the hair back to its healthy state.
-
Can the hair be washed or tied back after a Keratin Smoothing Treatment?Avoid washing or tying your hair for at least 2 days after the treatment. This helps to prolong the effects of the product and avoid any unwanted kinks or bends. Freshly applied keratin is malleable and still needs time to set in properly into your hair.
-
Dose Keratin Smoothing Treatment work on hair with Extensions?Yes. With extensions, care should be taken when flat-ironing: the seam where extensions are joined to the natural hair should not be flat-ironed.
-
TipsIf you need to temporarily tie your hair, use a gentle material like a scrunchie. Use cool water If your hair accidentally gets wet for any reason, don’t panic. Make sure it’s dry, and run your flat iron through a few times on that area. Shampoo and treatments with micro keratin will progressively enhance the treatment to look fresh. Avoid shampoos with sulfates are surfactants that deplete natural oils from your hair and scalp. They also destroy the acid mantle that keeps your scalp healthy and free from bacterial infection. Avoid any bleaching
-
What not to do after a Keratin TreatmentDo not use beach sprays or sea salt sprays Do not use a clarifying shampoo. Because of its deep cleansing properties, it will strip layers of keratin just like it removes residues. Do not overdo it at the gym Do not swim for 2 weeks after your treatment
